Calligraphy
Here are the finished pieces of calligraphy that are currently available for sale. Each of these is individually hand-made.
Vocatus
Vocatus Atque Non Vocatus, Deus Aderit
Bidden or not bidden, God is present.
These Latin words were carved over the doorframe of famous psychologist Carl Jung's house. They are also on his gravestone. Here they are reproduced as if they were from an illuminated manuscript. The Latin text is written in Uncial, a script used in the Middle Ages for important Latin texts. Over each Latin word is written its English translation, in a script known as Insular Miniscule. Many early medieval manuscripts made in Britain employ this method of writing the vernacular translation over the Latin text. The initial "V" is based on a capital "V" in the Book of Kells. This text is written on white card stock--it would look beautiful framed, but the paper is thick enough that you could hang this directly on your wall. It measures approx. 7" by 11".

The Wiccan Rede
Bide the Wiccan Law ye must
In perfect love and perfect trust
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill
An harm ye none, do as ye will.
And ever mind the Rule of Three
What ye send out, comes back to thee
Follow this with mind and heart,
And merry ye meet, and merry ye part.
The Wiccan Rede (short version) is beautifully hand-written in Carolingian, a script developed under King Charlemagne. Most of the lettering is in black, but the title and initial letters are all in a soothing blue color. Along the left side and the bottom is a Celtic Tree of Life pattern--intertwined vines and Celtic knots, with green and blue decoration. The Rede is written on thick white card stock. The left edge is deckled, but the other edges are straight. It measures 7 1/4" by 11". This is perfect for framing, but the cardstock is thick enough that you could hang it on the wall by itself.
Work, Love, and Dance
May you work like you don't need the money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no-one is watching.
This traditional Irish blessing is written in Carolingian and Uncial. It is available in a variety of colors. This is written on thick white card-stock, thick enough to hang on the wall itself or suitable for framing. Measures approximately 6" x 6".
