About Bygone Arts

Bygone Arts was founded in 2001 by Morgan Kay and Jamie Sajovic, two sisters who share a love of hand-crafted products using age-old techniques. We created Bygone Arts to share these crafts with others, and to enable us to devote our time to learning and perfecting our arts.

Morgan Kay specializes in Medieval-style calligraphy. She has a Master's Degree in Medieval Studies from Fordham University, and is currently working on a PhD in Medieval European History. Throughout her graduate studies, she has focused on medieval manuscripts and the many arts and skills that went into creating them. She enjoys recreating these arts in her own work: not only does it give her an excuse to spend long hours staring at medieval manuscripts, but she can take advantage of the meditative aspects of medieval calligraphy and illumination.

Jamie Sajovic has immersed herself in all aspects of fiber arts, from raising sheep and goats to spinning their fibers into yarn to knitting, weaving, and plaiting those fibers into beautiful, useful, or whimsical creations. She too enjoys the meditative aspects of these arts, but is also fascinated by the process of turning hair on an animal into clothing for humans.
